The Eximprod Group of Companies announces the official inauguration of the Cudalbi 2 Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 38.4 MW — one of the most modern renewable energy investments in the southeastern region of Romania.

The project, developed through Smart Power Generation Alfa SRL, consists of 7 ENERCON E-160 EP5 E2 turbines, each with a tower height of 120 meters, a rotor diameter of 160 meters, and a nominal capacity of 5.5 MW. Together, they can generate more than 106,000 MWh of green electricity annually — enough to power over 40,000 households. Every megawatt-hour produced means clean energy, investment in local development, and a direct contribution to Romania’s 2030 climate goals.

The German turbine supplier Enercon GmbH provides operation and maintenance services, ensuring the wind farm’s availability.

“The 38.4 MW Cudalbi 2 Wind Power Plant project is proof of the ability of Romanian teams to deliver complex energy infrastructure at international standards. It is an investment in Romania’s energy future, built with passion, innovation, and responsibility,” said Gheorghe Manole, co-founder of the Eximprod Group.

The newly inaugurated project represents the first stage of a broader initiative that will also include a 38 MW photovoltaic plant and a 36 MW / 36 MWh energy storage system. By combining wind and solar generation with storage capacity, Cudalbi becomes an example of a modern hybrid project, designed to meet the challenges of the energy transition and the need for flexibility in the national power system.

Construction of the wind farm — from the start order to the first megawatt-hour delivered to the grid — was completed within 12 months, demonstrating efficiency in implementation and excellent coordination among all teams involved. The works were carried out with the local expertise of Eximprod Group companies, together with experienced partners who played a decisive role in the project’s success, including Lemacons Galați, Electromontaj Carpați Sibiu, and Prelchim Râmnicu Vâlcea.

The wind farm is connected to the National Energy System through a new 33/110 kV transformer station and a 9 km, 110 kV overhead power line. The Cudalbi 2 project, with a total investment value of €75 million, was completed through a balanced financing mix, including bank financing provided by Banca Transilvania and equity contributions from investors.

The investment benefits from €9.6 million in funding through the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP / PNRR), under the program supporting the development of renewable energy generation capacities. It is the first wind energy project under the PNRR to be completed in full compliance with the financing contract requirements.

“Through this project, we are making a concrete contribution to Romania’s decarbonization goals and to increasing the share of clean energy in the national mix. The 38.4 MW Cudalbi 2 Wind Power Plant is another step in a series of investments that Eximprod is preparing in wind, solar, and energy storage,” said Gheorghe Manole, co-founder of the Eximprod Group.

The inauguration of the Cudalbi 2 Wind Farm takes place in the presence of local and national authorities, project partners, financiers, and the Eximprod team, who together celebrate the successful completion of a major green energy investment.

The event also marks Eximprod’s 20th anniversary in the renewable energy sector — the company obtained its first wind power generation license on September 27, 2005, a milestone that paved the way for the development of its current portfolio of green energy projects.
